CNC Machining in Taiwan: How to Find and Work with a Machine Shop

A practical guide to sourcing CNC machined parts from Taiwan: where the industry is, which processes to expect, how quoting works, and shipping to Europe and North America.

Taiwan is one of the world’s major machining regions. Its machine shops supply bicycle, automotive and motorcycle, machinery and electronics companies around the world. This guide explains how to find a suitable shop and how a typical project runs.

Where Taiwan’s machining industry is

Central Taiwan — Taichung and the surrounding counties — has the densest cluster of machine tool builders and precision machine shops on the island, along with tooling, material and finishing suppliers. Most outside processes can be done within a short drive.

Processes you can source

  • CNC milling, including 4-axis and 4.5-axis machining of multi-face parts
  • CNC turning for shafts, pins, bushings and other round parts
  • Wire EDM for profiles, slots and hardened materials
  • Surface finishing such as anodizing
  • Prototypes, small batches and production runs

How a project usually runs

  • You send a 3D model and drawing with material, finish and quantity.
  • The shop reviews manufacturability and returns a quote with lead time.
  • Critical tolerances and finishes are confirmed before production.
  • Parts are machined, finished, checked and packed for export.
  • Shipping is arranged by air, courier or sea depending on size and urgency.

Communication tips

Clear drawings beat long emails. Use standard GD&T, state units, mark critical dimensions, and give the material by its standard designation. If a feature is cosmetic only, say so — it lets the shop choose a cheaper process.

About Chi Xin Technology

Chi Xin Technology is a CNC machine shop in Nantun District, Taichung, Taiwan, founded in 2022. We run 5+ CNC machines — 4.5-axis CNC machining centers and CNC lathes — and mainly machine aluminum alloys and alloy steel, with a metal tolerance of 0.02 mm. We also offer wire EDM and surface finishing including anodizing, and we export to customers in Europe and North America.
