Tolerances
Give a general tolerance in the title block and call out tighter tolerances only where function needs them. Every tight tolerance adds machining and inspection time.
Material and finish
- Material by standard designation (for example 6061-T6 aluminum)
- Heat treatment, if any
- Finish and color, for example anodizing, and surfaces that must stay bare
Quantity and schedule
- Quantity for this order and expected yearly volume
- Whether you need prototypes first
- Target delivery date and destination country

Do I need a 2D drawing if I send a 3D model?
For anything with tolerances, threads or finish requirements, yes. The 3D model gives geometry; the drawing tells the shop what matters.
